Simple creative websites that serve
After relocating to New Orleans, there is far too much work that needs to be done on a volunteer basis to pursue new clients.
Four months ago I relocated myself to New Orleans to work with Common Ground Collective who works in solidarity with the residents of New Orleans in rebuilding after hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Prior to relocating here I was operating a small web design business supporting myself with several paying clients and several pro-bono projects.
I have been very busy working with Commongroundrelief.org the main website as well as several satellite websites including cgctech.com, rubarbike.org nolahomefortheholidays.org and rebuildgreen.org. I also have now begun working on related organizations websites including survivorsvillage.com and causewayfoundation.com.
During this time, I also found that the local indymedia site was becoming very inactive in a city with so much news to report so I have been working on rebuilding the collective here and managing technical aspects of news publishing to neworleans.indymedia.org.
I have had to put on hold several other pro-bono website requests, and I have had little time to seek work with my paid clients or seek new paying clients. This has put me in a position where my funds are running out and I must make quick decisions about my future of helping with so many websites here. My first hope would be that I may continue doing a majority of pro-bono work and find an outside source of funding. As currently Common Ground Relief offers me housing, I do not need very much to sustain myself. My calculations are that if I could raise $125/week I could continue taking care of expenses and have some semblance of a social life in New Orleans.
